Should I be reassured?

I have suffered from pain in my right side lower ribs for 3 months.  I had a CT scan of the pelvis and abdomen and nothing unusual was found.  I also had x ray of chest and back, which was negative.  Bloods are normal, including liver function.

I still have a lot of pain and visible horizontal swelling in a long sausage shape where the pain is.

My GP is not concerned at the swelling but hadn't given it a diagnosis.  He said they would have found any sinister reason for it in the xray and or CT scan.

I am keen to trust the science here but I feel it's odd that I don't have a diagnosis.  What, if anthing, further should I push for?

I'm female, mid 50s. Thank you

  • Hello Scottishmuppet and thanks for posting,

I am really sorry but nurses aren't trained in diagnostics so I am rather limited in what I can say. But I think it is very reasonable to ask your GP to tell you what they think this lump is, why you still have the pain and if you need any more tests or a specialist referral. Do talk things over again.

I am sorry I can't be more helpful, but I hope one of your GPs can shed more light on things for you.

    Best wishes,

    Julia
