Referral to gynaecologist

Hello

Can anyone advise or relate please.

So I have been having a lot off neck pain for a year now, over past few months it's spread to my lower back region and I mean it hurts and is so dull and annoying constant. I also suffer with bouts of nausea alot recently sometimes making myself vomit to relieve the feeling. I had 9 months off heaving continual bleeding, clots the lot. Recently I have loose bowels.

Anyway doctors have me just been sending me physio and giving me every painkiller going for past year. However finally they sent me for a vaginal ultrasound Which I had in augyst  The results came back as suspected endometriosis. So I had a pelvic examination last week. I had a smear last November And am up to date.  The nurse said she didn't feel anything at exam or ultrasound but the nurse took more swabs. Today she called to say would it be ok if she sent me to be referred to a gynaecologist. Off course I said yes but no other information was giving She said she would call with any results but this is all she has said and I am just waiting for an appt now. Am I over thinking this.. concerned now x

thanks

  • Hello and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear about all the different symptoms that you have been having. You sound like you have had a horrible time.

Without being involved in your care it is very difficult for us to try and guess why the nurse is referring you to the gynaecologist. You may find it helpful to ring her and ask why she has decided to refer you to the gynaecologist. There may be any number of reasons that they  refer you perhaps for some further tests.

I can understand that it is unsettling not knowing but hopefully have more information when you speak to her. Don't be afraid to ask questions.  You may find it helpful to look at the information about what to ask your doctor which you can see here.

I hope this helps. If you would like to chat through any of this with the nurses on the helpline then do get back to us or give us a ring.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Best Wishes,

    Catherine
