Hi there,

I have pcos & since having my daughter in 2019 my periods have been irregular- but recently I have been bleeding after sex I have had 2 weeks where I have also feels really fatigued, nauseous and crampy this was when I assumed my Period was due but it never came- I took pregnancy tests this come back negative. Today I have noticed a small lump in my cervix and I'm really concerned about this.

I spoke to the doctor before I found the lump she has got me to do swabs to check for sti' but I'm 10000% certain that will be clear as I've been with the same man for years.

we are planning to have another baby so haven't been using any form of protection and since I still hve had my period I will do another test jusy to make sure.

Any help and reassurance would be muchly apprecisted. xx

  • Hello Evayo and thanks for posting,

I expect you have read that bleeding after sex can sometimes be due to cervical cancer - I imagine this is what led you to check out your cervix - but it can have other causes too. See what the NHS website says about it here:

    www.nhs.uk/.../

Because this type of bleeding can be linked to a pelvic infection it makes sense for your GP to rule this out with the swabs.

I'm afraid I can't tell you what is causing the small lump on your cervix, you need to let your GP know so it can be checked out, but try not to worry -  it could be something like a cyst (fluid filled sac) or a polyp (harmless growth). Polyps can bleed after sex. I think to be on the safe side, your doctor or practice nurse needs to take a look at the lump,  but keep an open mind about it until they do.

I hope this is easy to sort out and that your GP can help.

    Best wishes,

    Julia
