Titanium Markers

Hi

I had three breast biopsies last year, each a month apart. I had a marker put in at biopsies 1, 2 and 3. At three my first and second markers were removed. Since then my left breast has been uncomfortable, there is no redness or weeping or disfigurement but it is continuously aggrevating and sore. It sometimes feels as if it is in spasm, which I don't think it can be as there are no real muscles involved.. I am wondering if it is the T3 marker?  My GP says its nerve damage but she hasn't seen me. Who can I turn to for some help/guidance?  I have been extremely anxious since my diagnosis, all this kicked off about a year ago and so is at the forefront of my mind at the moment.

  • Hello there and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear about the discomfort you have since having some breast biopsies taken last year.

Unfortunately no one on here can say what the matter may be and whilst it could be nerve damage as your GP suggested I think perhaps it may be worth calling the surgery again and asking to speaking and seeing a different doctor so they can take a look. If they are unsure or have concerns they may be able to refer you back to the breast unit for assessment.

From what I can see titanium markers rarely have side effects but of course this may also be explored as a possible cause.

Try not to worry too much hopefully there is a simple and straightforward reason for this but for your peace of mind it is important this is looked into so do speak to a doctor when you can.

Please get back if you need to or you are welcome to call the nurses on our free phone number Monday-Friday 9-5 on 0808 800 4040.

    All the best

    Naomi
