I've had Essential Thrombocytosis for 6 and a half years.
I'm recently seeing a different haemotologist as mine is not available.
My platelet count flucuates drastically .My previous haematologist only ever reduced or increased my Hydroxycarbamide by one or 2 tablets a week.Even when my platelets plummeted to 242, he said carry on with the same dose, which was obviously the right thing to do as my following bloodwork revealed platelets of 500.He always saw me every 12 weeks.
My new haemotologist has reduced my Hydroxycarbamide by 7 tablets a week because my platelet count was 350 and doesn't want to see me until 18th 2022!
This just doesn't sit right with me, because after 6 and half years of being on Hydroxycarbamide, I've never had such a drastic reduction and been left so long without a check up.I'm worried that in the mean time my platelets can soar , which they always do and I'll be left at risk of a blood clot.
Has any one else had such a big reduction of meds?
Or does any one else think that he's made a mistake?
