Failed ablation

Hi,i had endometrial ablation on the 9/9/21 I've recieved a letter today to say it failed! Does anyone know what would cause it to fail? I've had no explanation as to why ,but I'll be having another appointment coming through they said.

  • Hello and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear about your situation. It is hard to be given information about your procedure but with very little explanation.

Endometrial ablation involves thinning, removing or destroying the lining of the womb (the endometrium). If your periods have been very heavy it may lighten or stop them all together, depending on how much of your womb lining remains.

Without being involved in your care it is very hard for me to say very much. They may have found it difficult to remove the lining of the womb and I can't say what could be the cause of this but there may be a straight forward explanation.

Hopefully you will get more information at your next appointment. If it is easy to get hold of your GP you could get in touch with them to see if they have more information as the hospital would have written to them informing them of the procedure.

I do hope that you find out  more soon.

    All the Best,

    Catherine
