Small lump in breast

Hi I'm 17 weeks pregnant and 2 weeks ago found a small lump in my breast, I saw Mt midwife yesterday and mentioned it to her and she said I need to get it checked but she can not refere me, the problem is I am in a new area and currently don't have a gp, so I am un able to go down that route to get a appointment. Is this any other way I can get this lump checked please. I know it might just be a blocked milk duct but I have breast family in my family so I rather just get it checked

Thankyou

  • Hello and thanks for your post

I'm sorry you are worried about a breast lump. Breast changes during pregnancy is very common and breast lumps can occasionally occur. Most of the time they will be nothing to be worried about but should be checked out just to be on the safe side.

The charity Breast Cancer Now have produced some information on this and you can see it here.

You do need to be registered with a GP to get assessed. The NHS website has information on how to register with a GP at this link. If necessary, the GP may decide to refer you to the breast clinic for further tests.

I hope you know more about your situation soon and good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

    Best wishes,

    Celene
