Raised CA125

Hi new here..

just wondered if anyone had any similar stories to mine.

went to the doctors with heavy periods and really bad back pain bloating and needing to pee more.she did a CA125 came back at 76 sent to gynaecologist who is doing a camera in the womb to check everything he also did the blood test again this time it's 101

got my camera next week but can't help but worry about the increase in CA125

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

The CA125 is a chemical that circulates in the bloodstream, and can sometimes be a marker for ovarian cancer. Women with ovarian cancer tend to have higher levels of CA125 in their blood then women who don't. But CA125 can also be raised for other gynaecological reasons that are not related to cancer, which includes endometriosis, ovarian cysts, and pelvic inflammatory disease, or heavy bleeding and fibroids. So because your CA125 level was slightly raised, they decided to repeat it.

So, I can appreciate your concern, but try to keep an open mind about your situation, as there can be several possible medical explanations. Try and keep busy as being distracted helps whilst you wait to have tests done.

    Wishing you the best,

    Vanda
