What is going on?

Hello all,

new to the sight please be gentle...

I contacted my gp with symptoms they are constant bleeding, constant pain in right side, constantly tired and basically feeling a little unwell.

I was seen by a sonographer about five weeks ago where they found a ovarian cyst the size of an orange and a mass that they could not distinguish where it was coming from. I have a sense fibrotic uterus as well. I had a Ca125 which came back above the normal.

I then was referred to a two week urgent referral to se was specialist at the local hospital. I saw them but I felt like I was taking up her time, she didn't have my latest scan just the report. Anyway, went through the usual questions and examination etc. I was told I would be referred for a diagnostic laparoscopicy but it has to go to a MDT meeting which happened on the 8th September.

I was told that I would be contacted about the diagnosis in two weeks from the initial appointment.

it is now three weeks since that date I have had no information about what's happening, what they are expecting whether they have just discharged me and haven't told me nothing. I tried calling the secretary she just said oh you are lucky it's probably nothing to worry about and none urgent!! I am not sure how she would know this.

All I want to know is what's what..... perhaps I have to high of an expectation of this. I don't know what to think anymore and have pushed it through to PALS who are amazing and are working on it.

Has this happened to anyone else? Will I be seen again am I just being over the top with worry.

any help will be welcome

  • Hi Kate and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear about your situation and all of this must be a worry for you. I'm afraid it can be difficult to compare your story with someone else's as the end result might not be the same as yours.

It sounds like you have done the right thing in contacting PALS so they can chase what is happening for you. It is disappointing the secretary couldn't give you any more information about when you might hear something as from what you have said this does need investigating further and for the results to be discussed with you once in.

Symptoms can be caused by lots of things and at the same time not all cysts will be sinister but if they are a particular size or contain certain features they will wish to carry out a diagnostic laparoscopy where they can take a closer look and remove anything unusual so it can be examined under a microscope to confirm what it is.

Unfortunately no one on here can diagnose or say if this is anything serious so I would encourage you to speak to your GP, to try and see if the secretary can find out more and wait and see if PALS can come back with an update.

I hope you know more soon but in the meantime do get back if you have more questions. You are also welcome to call the nurses on 0808 800 4040, Monday-Friday 9-5 to talk things through.

Wishing you all the best and hope everything is ok for you.

    Naomi
