Small changing mole

Hi everyone hope your all well!

I have a 2mm mole on my left leg that I recently noticed has changed. It has two little dark dots in it. One dot in the middle and one dot at bottom edge.

I went to my gp and he has referred me to dermatologist within four weeks.. by now I have been waiting a week so I have 3 weeks to wait still, my go said if it has grown in two weeks iv to make a go appointment straight away while waiting on the dermatologist appointment I'm terrified in case it is something serious and spreads by the time my dermatologist see's me.

I recently found out I'm 13 weeks pregnant and I have 3 wonderful kids.

I had a mole cut out my back last year that came back atypical.

worried sick and I'd love a bit of support during this worrying time. Sorry for the long read!

thanks

  • Dear Jessica thank you for your post,

I am sorry to hear about this mole and the worry it causing you. I can appreciate that this has possibly come at not the best time for you after finding out you are pregnant, congratulations.

I am sorry to say that we are not able to tell you if this is serious but it is reassuring to know that you have been referred to see a dermatologist. You probably know that moles can change during pregnancy but your GP has asked you to keep an eye on it. Do as he says but please do not look or touch this too often as this may make it difficult to see a change. Taking a picture and then repeating it a few days later may a be a good way to monitor this.  Also you may want to ask someone close to you to look at this might help to have an objective view and take some pressure of you. However, if you are at all concerned do let your GP know.

Hopefully you will hear from the dermatology team soon, they will look at the referral your GP has not had decide when they can see you.

I hope people will get back to you, you might want to post on another area where more people will see it.  You would also be welcome to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Caroline
