I am sorry to learn what has happened and can understand why you are feeling alarmed, but try and keep an open mind. As the doctor mentioned ruling skin cancer out, they may not be all that suspicious, so the biopsy results might well turn out to be ok. I don't mean to dismiss your concerns, more to say take it one step at a time because it is so easy for fear to run away with us when there is uncertainty - it can help to counter the fear and worry with some logic. 

Squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs) can occur in several places in the body, so not all SCCs are the same - it depends where they started. I am not sure if you have been reading about people with skin (cutaneous ) SCC which along with basal cell carcinoma are called non melanoma skin cancer. In general people with non melanoma skin cancer do very well as these cancers usually grow slowly and don't spread.

Try to stand back from 'worst case scenarios' and hold your nerve until the biopsy results are back. I hope your father doesn't have too long to wait.

I can understand you feeling so upset about this and am sorry if I haven't helped. I was really just saying that SCCs can behave differently depending on which part of the body they develop in, skin (cutaneous) SCCs are different say to a lung SCCs.  I think it is fair to say that even if it has spread to the lymph nodes many cases of squamous cell skin cancer can still be cured, you can read more about survival for this condition at this link: www.cancerresearchuk.org/.../survival 

The word malignant means that something is a cancer, but this does not mean that this is always a death sentence.  Many people with cancer (a malignant tumour) do now survive.

I am sure anyone with a relative who might have been misdiagnosed would feel the same, and most people say it is very stressful waiting to find out what the situation really is.  I am not advocating positive thinking but it is often helpful to consider all possible outcomes,  the situation could turn out to be better than you imagine at the moment   

I do hope the biopsy appointment for your father is soon and you can get some more certainty about what is likely to happen next.

Many Thanks for replying ! I now understand  that you actually referred to was explaining that  different areas of the body can encur  squamous  , you might be right I may of been reading about a different area in others posts  !
 

As far as I was aware squamous basal and malignant melanoma are skin or intra extra oral cancers so I've learnt something new ! Thanks for clearing my confusion up ! I know the score really with MM it's not something the Doctor has written as suspicion in the notes as far as I'm aware  ! Pray to god 

Don't feel that you haven't helped as simply knowing someone with expert knowledge ( presumably as a nurse you've done specialist post qualifications in this area )

The biopsy is well over a week away and by this time my dads vaccine immunity will have almost worn off ! Not happy they didn't punch biopsy when administering a local to remove a thick crust !! 
 

As a doctor initially diagnosed a seborrheic wart then over the past 5 years this has been viewed by specialist nurses and I feel as if they've never questioned the initial diagnosis of the Doctor as they're not doctors with all due respect they've never thought to cut the thick crust off and examine underneath!! They've trusted in the initial diagnosis 
 

It's incredibly  frightened I think especially after removing the crust and hearing that the  doctor went on to advise his SHO or VT can you see there are loads of ?? ? Authorising  Vessels (words sounding like that ) if you look at the 3 point plot position (no idea what this ref to ) you can see ? Cervis ?  You can see why they thought it was SK ( I know seborrheic keratosis) 

This is what was relayed back to me ! As a nurse  you'll know what the words may have been.  Perhaps As a nurse you will be able to translate this into biology for me ? 
 

Meanwhile I'll take a look at the link you posted  ! Actually I've read this prior ! The Nurse I called at the hospital claimed that neither spread to the organs I get that with basal but that link clearly states otherwise fir squamous

I am afraid that we are not able to interpret the terms you mention.  I think the best thing to do now is wait for the biopsy and then the results. Waiting for these to be done can be difficult.
