Definite lump, mobile and painful.

Just that really.

Pain for over a month on one side, my arm and shoulder hurt too. I have felt a burning breast pain and kept feeling for something as it wasn't right. Found a lump this morning. GP has confirmed there is definitely a lump and referred me on the 2ww.

My mum died from BC at 49 and I am 40. I am really scared. My appointment is on Tuesday next week so I have the weekend to get through yet.

I am sat in tears. I knew something wasn't right and she has confirmed it. I am in so much pain. A month ago my armpit was very sore and swollen.

Can anyone reassure please. Just to help me settle. I am a single parent of 4 kids.

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

I am sorry to learn about your mum and that you are in the thick of a health scare.

Things like this are inevitably frightening, and more so when someone in the family has had or died from cancer. No one here on the forum can say for sure that there is nothing serious the matter, but breast lumps and breast pain can certainly occur for other reasons and a lot of women referred to the breast clinics with these sorts of symptoms turn out to have something else at the end of the day.

I expect it will be hard to hold your nerve until you are seen at the clinic, but try to keep an open mind and resist the temptation to look for answers online as this can take you around in circles and make you worry more without being any the wiser. Do what works for you to manage the stress and look after yourself and the kids - staying busy seem to work for a lot of people - I expect you have your hands pretty full anyway - try not to let your mind dwell on cancer if you can.

    All the best,

    Julia
