Can I get my results by post

I'm being referred to the breast clinic. Just the initial examination at A&E was far to much for me and I ran out of the hospital having a panic attack...

so to me, I'd 100% want my results from the clinic by post. Is this possible? If not, what other options would I have? I would want to avoid hearing my results face to face at all costs, that's just not how I deal with these things.

I should also mention I'm autistic, hence getting overwhelmed and anxious easily.

  • Hello and thanks for posting on the forum,

I am so sorry to hear what happened at the hospital.

Every breast clinic works slightly differently and I can't say what will happen at your breast clinic.

I would speak to the breast clinic when you get there and let them know that you are feeling worried about how you receive your results. You can tell them that you are anxious not to receive the results in a face to face appointment and see what they say.

They may have some helpful suggestions that may make it easier as to how you are given any news.

Many women seen in a breast clinic are found not to have cancer but of course it is always a good idea to rule this out. You may find it helpful to look at what what may happen at a breast clinic appointment which is written by  the charity Breast Cancer Now.  Have a look here

I do hope that you are able to share how you are feeling with a close family member or a friend. They maybe able to go with you for your appointment. They may also be able to help  explain to the clinic how anxious it is making you feel.

I do hope that it all goes well at the clinic.

    Take Care,

    Catherine
