Hard immovable lump in neck

Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced this.

So just over two weeks ago I came across a hard immovable pea sized lump in my neck (which moves up and down as I swallow), I have the same lump the other side but not as hard. I've spoken to two doctors who both think it's a swollen gland from a viral infection. I do have ear ach, headaches, occasional toothache and an ulcer on my lip. I'm not sure if my throat hurts or not, or if I've googled it too many times and am making symptoms appear. I have a ten month old baby and am terrified its could be something more :(

The doctor knows how worried I am and has said I can have my bloods checked on Friday, if it's still there and I'm still worried. I don't think the lump has grow but I can't seem to not worry.

Thanks you

  • Hello and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear you are so worried about this lump. I'm afraid this forum cannot diagnose people or say what the matter might be and even if people have been through something similar the result could be very different to you.

It is good to hear you have seen a couple of doctors who have both tried to reassure you this isn't anything to be concerned about and it is reasonable to run some blood tests if it doesn't settle down.

Lymph nodes often swell because of an infection and then return to normal after the infection passes. Most lumps and bumps won't be the result of anything as serious as cancer but it is good you have had them checked out.

See how things go but try and stop googling information as this can be very unhelpful and cause even more stress and anxiety.

    Wishing you all the best.

    Take care

    Naomi
