Ultrasound and biopsy for breast lump

I'm 35 and Last week I found a lump in my breast, my gp referred me to the breast clinic, I have just got back today. The Dr at hospital after examination said it didn't seem malignant and more likely a fibroid from a mild trauma, and it's likely I hadn't remembered it happening. I went for ultrasound and he said he couldn't see anything sinister but still did a biopsy. And I will get my results back via telephone appointment on Thursday. Anyone else had a biopsy taken even though they said it doesn't appear to be cancer? Im still worried but everyone around me seems to be taking it as brilliant news! But I can't think that way, I'm still in limbo and worried

  • Hello and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear you have undergone some tests for a breast lump and appreciate times like this are a worry.

Try and hang on to all the positives as it sounds like everyone is hopeful that this isn't anything too concerning. Yes it is fair to say until the biopsy result is back that nothing is certain but there is a good chance that everything will be fine.

Biopsies are frequently taken from breast lumps all the time to make sure nothing is missed. I'm sure if they had been suspicious in any way about it being something serious like cancer they wouldn't have been so reassuring.

Try and keep yourself busy and your mind on other things whilst you wait as this can be helpful. I think it is difficult at times like this for anyone to relax completely until the results are in and they know for certain that everything is ok but try not to let it consume you for now.

Wishing you all the best and hope all is ok.

    Take care

    Naomi
