No one telling us to much at the minute we wondering how long mum may have
Hello and thank you for your post
I'm so sorry to hear about your mum - it must be very difficult hearing news like this and it's not surprising that you have questions as to what this actually means in terms of prognosis.
It is very hard for anyone to be able to answer this though, especially as we are not involved in looking after your mum. The doctors or senior nurse will be the best people to ask, though they may not be able to say themselves. The reason for this being that everyone responds very differently to treatment and also to the cancer. So each person in a similar situation will have a very different response.
If the disease is stabilised, there is a good response to any treatment that is being given and it's slow growing, then people can live with a spread to the bones for longer than months, sometimes a few years - but I really can't say and your mum's own doctors also may not be able to predict something like how long someone may have , as things can change and move on very rapidly sometimes.
I hope you manage to have a good chat with the doctors about this, but if you would like to go through any of this with one of us here on the helpline, please do give us a ring - the number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
All the very best to you and your mum
Wanda
