Thyroid nodule

I seem to have found myself here because I don't know really where to talk about what is going on.

I really have no idea what is going on to be honest.

I have recently been for an ultrasound on my thyroid... well the only half I have left. I can feel pressure in my throat; a little like I'm being choked. The radiologist said there is a nodule on my thyroid but there are no visible swollen lymph nodes and said my doctor should send me to a specialist. That was all that I was told during my scan. A few days later I got a call to go for a full bloods test, which during the blood test the nurse said these are for my thyroid function but I already had a thyroid function test before my ultrasound and the function was completely normal. It's been a couple of days since my blood test and I'm sat here confused, stressed, frustrated and depressed because I haven't got a clue what is happening and this lump is annoying me. Has anyone else experienced this dreadful wait and doctors not letting on what's happening to you? I know the results might not be back or I may be fine but I just want to be told what's happening next.

    I am sorry to hear about the symptoms you are having and understand they must be a worry for you.

    Unfortunately the forum is unable to diagnose people and even if people have experienced something similar to you the cause may be very different.

    Symptoms can come on for lots of different reasons and most won't be the result of anything serious but often when they are ongoing or worsening the doctor will arrange further tests to be sure. I'm afraid doctors don't always know what is going on or have the answers straight away so can't always say what they think the matter may be until the results are in.

    I appreciate the waiting and not knowing can be a highly anxious time but hang in there for now. Do try and talk to your GP again if you can and explain how all of this is making you feel and your greatest fear and see if they can give you some peace of mind and explain what may happen next.
