Vitamin b12 injections

I've been having investigations for a month for constipation and bloating  and a 9 fit test. I've had bloods and a ct colonoscopy ( 2 weeks ago) I've not heard anything as of yet.

A dental hygienist friend has offered me vit b12 injections.  Would this intefere with future blood or investigation results ?

  • Hello and thanks for your post

I'm sorry to read about your symptoms and hope that you will have some answers soon when your test results come through.

Vitamin B12 injections are usually prescribed for people who are deficient in Vitamin B12. A blood test would  pick this up if you were deficient in this.

Having Vitamin B12 injections would not benefit you if your vitamin B12 levels are normal. You can read more about this on the NHS website at this link

It's probably not a good idea to take Vitamin B12 injections when they have not been prescribed by your doctor as they may interact with other medications.Your doctor is the best person to advise you on this as they should have your latest blood test results.

    I hope that helps.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
