I was referred urgently to the gynaecology oncologist in feb after mri, ultrasound ect l have been told l have enlarged overies now on waiting list for removal in sept/Oct. My friend had cervical cancer and after treatment is still fine 30 yrs later with no further treatment hopefully you will be the same if you go on to need treatment. At least with a 2 week appointment you will know what is happening soon.

Hi thanks for your reply, before your referral did you have an internal examination? As I'm just a little worried as to what the go saw when she examined me 

My refferal came from an urgent sigmoidoscopy my bowel was fine but they found bilateral complex ovarian cysts,  No further examination and the next thing l knew l had an appt 10 days later in the gynaecology oncology clinic. The mri and transvaginal ultrasound followed the appointment to see if they had changed l was then put on list for surgery by the consultant by phone.

I'm sorry you are going through this incredibly stressful time, but unfortunately we are not going to be able to tell you if there is anything the matter. And anyone who posts here on the forum will be talking about their own individual circumstances, which may cause you unnecessary anxiety.

The 2 week wait is used by the GP as a fast referral into the hospital system, this allows them to work out, with a quicker time frame, what is going on. Here's some more information on that.

The problem is you are in the period of time now where just the waiting is so stressful, and the only thing you can do is try and distract yourself each day to occupy your mind. This may help time to go quicker but I appreciate that is much easier said than done.

Try to not search through the internet, as it isn't a Doctor who can properly assess you, and again the information might not be right to your own situation.

Hi Sarah, thankyou for your reply. Your right at the moment all I've done is worry but nothing I can change at the moment, just a question, if someone has an unhealthy looking cervix , could this be something totally normal? Like pcos etc x

Yes it is possible that even if a GP who examined the cervix and said it looked unhealthy it can turn out that nothing serious is the matter.
