Begnin ear tumor

Hi, hope no one feels I am wasting their time but I had a bad viral I fection where I had fluid behind my ear 2 years ago and was left with tinitus.

My doctor referred me to the hospital and because of covid it has taken till now to be seen I dont have hearing loss and the consultant said she was not worried but has sent me for a MRI scan as she said it can be caused by a begnin tumor.

I have had to have a eye op 4 wks ago and am really panicking about this. I am wondered if any one knew how likely this could be

The tinitus is in both ears and I have no other symptoms. I have spoken to my doctor who says highly unlikely.

Any help would be much appreciated the MRI is this Thursday

thank you

  • Hello and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear about your tinnitus and the worry that it is causing. I am afraid neither the nurses or anyone on the forum will be able to tell you what the MRI scan is going to show.

It is a while since your symptoms started so it sounds like it is unlikely to be anything too serious and we can't tell you any more than the consultant has told you already.

I can understand that it is distressing having a continual noise in your ears and hopefully you will know more information on Thursday.

    All the Best,

    Catherine
