Burning feeling and indentation in right breast

Has anyone experienced this before? I'm 32 with 3 children youngest being 9 months. I went to the docs because I have pain that feels like surnburn on the inside of my right breast and when she examined me she felt what she described as a indentation in the skin. I have a hospital app Friday but as you can imagine I'm absolutely *** it and thinking all things :(

  • It's the thinking bit that's the worst.  Word of advice, don't google it because you will focus on the ones where this symptom did mean cancer.  There will be a million times more cases where it was due to hormonal changes / infection etc .

I have so many friends who've had follow ups and it's all been fine and even if it's not the knowing is actually easier to deal with than the thinking what if.

Best of luck for Friday ..the breast care centres are amazing!

  • Hello and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear about the burning pain you have in your breast and can understand that needing to go to the breast unit is a worry for you.

Try not to over think things for now if you can. Most breast changes or symptoms are harmless and have a straightforward reason for them to occur. You can read about benign breast conditions here and breast pain here.

It is good to hear you have seen your GP and they have referred you to the breast clinic for further checks just to be on the safe side. There they will be able to give you a clinical examination and carry out a ultrasound and/or mammogram to check everything is ok and sometimes they may also need to take a biopsy. This will all be explained to you when you go but just to say that most women referred won't go on to be diagnosed with cancer.

I hope the appointment goes well and that you will be ok.

    All the best

    Naomi
