Right Side pain

Hi There,

I was hoping for some advice please.

ive been experiencing stabbing pain for about 5months now under my (R) arm pit and upper stomach all to the side. The only way to describe the pain is as though I'm being taserd (don't actually know how that feels) but I imagine this is it!
when it first started, the pain was awful and I would literally have to freeze in whatever I'm doing to ride out the pain.

I think the pain went away for awhile, although, I'm a busy lone working parent, with two buys who has just finished my 2nd year - full time in uni, so you can imagine putting everything else first to block out my own needs aided to that factor of not acting on it at the beginning.

now the pain and stabbing sensation has returned and I'm getting a little concerned, given it's been here everyday, a lot more than before. Given my history with ovarian cancer, you can imagine there will always be that lingering in the back of my mind. I've also had my appendix removed, gull bladder removed, from complications from my last pregnancy 10years ago, so it can't be any of those causing concerns.

ive asked my Dr for a blood test, which I'll be having tomorrow. Although, I haven't mentioned what I'm experiencing to him. But I think he understands I'm worrying about something given my history.
please any advice would be greatly appreciated.

kind regards

  • Hello there and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear about your past history and appreciate these recent symptoms are worrying you.

Unfortunately the forum cannot tell you what the matter is and whilst asking your doctor for a blood test isn't a bad thing it is important you get back and explain all your symptoms to them. They will then be able to assess you properly and make sure you have the most appropriate tests to find out more.

Try not to over think things for now if you can. There can be many reasons for symptoms and whilst you have had cancer in the past this doesn't necessarily mean this is cancer now.

Do talk to your doctor when you can.

Wishing you all the best and hope things settle for you soon.

    Take care

    Naomi
