Can cancer treatment and menopause cause these abnormal results? Had abnormal liver result which on repeat test was normal. I have a telephone call with g.p on Wednesday. Should I ask for a C.t scan?

Hello and thanks for your post
A raised bone serum alkaline phosphatase level can have different explanations and doesn't necessarily have to be related to cancer. Sometimes the levels fluctuate and this is why doctors offer a repeat blood test.
Bones can change during the menopause and as a result of some cancer treatments. Your GP will probably ask you about your general health and look at any medications you may be taking.
They would probably only recommend a CT scan if you had symptoms or if the repeated blood test was high. But do discuss this with your GP and see what their advice is on this.
I hope this helps.
Kind regards,
Celene
This was the repeat blood test and the 2nd 1 has gone up even further. I have already had a hip xray due to pain but g.p had not had any results when we spoke 3 weeks ago. Which was 2 weeks after the xray. I also have lymphedema. I have not had a ct or mri since half way through my chemo. Which was in March after I believed I had a dvt and tachycardia but the registra was convinced I had lung cancer or a p.e. Which I did not think was needed. It was confirmed after a leg scan I requested that it was indeed a dvt and tachycardia as I had thought. I do have pain also. I am hoping it is just a result of menopause or treatment, however I want to be sure that there is not any other reason. I have already had bloods to check my parathyroid levels which came back normal. I would be happier if investigations were done before g.p decides to just treat with a bisphosphonate like alendronate- cholecalciferol or similar.
Hello, and Thank you for getting back to us, but I am afraid as we are not doctors we are unable to comment on which other tests you should be having.
Your Oncologist and GP will be experienced in what to do and when to do it, as there is usually a systematic approach of certain symptoms triggering certain investigations, and then if needed other tests too.
If you are concerned that things are being missed, or you have questions in general about what your Doctor is doing, it is best to talk it through with them as they know you and your situation best.
Take care, and I hope you know more soon.
Sarah.
