Round lump in breast

Heya guys

I am hoping to get some advise. Recently I have found a lump on the left of my breast. It's roughly 4cm and I can feel that it's round. Is this something I should be going to get checked out?
I have a horrible fear of going to the doctors and talking about these sort of problems.

Thank you in advance for any help, very appreciate.

  • Yes you must go to your GP ASAP I had the same problem 2 months ago.

Just say you have found a lump and you should get an apppointment as soon as possible

I was referred to the breast clinic within 2 weeks where a few tests  were done all on the same day

please see your GP otherwise you will worry forever

Wishing you all the best of luck

    xx

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

I can understand that finding a breast lump can cause so much anxiety but this forum is not the place to diagnose (tell you what is wrong).

The vast majority of breast lumps are not cancerous but it is always a good idea to get any lumps that are discovered checked out just to be on the safe side.

I can understand that it is not easy going to the GP particularly if you have a fear of seeing doctors.

GP's are aware that women can be extremely anxious and I am sure will try to put you at ease. I am sure that you will feel much better when you have had a chance to discuss your concerns with a health professional. If you would feel better seeing a female doctor you could always request one if there was one that was available.

In the first instance the GP will perform a breast examination. Doctors have guidelines about what to look out for. If they want to find out more about the lump then often they will refer to a breast clinic just to find out what the lump is.  There are many non cancerous breast lumps that women can get.

I do hope this helps. Even though it is lovely to hear what other members of the forum says you must remember that everyone is so different so it is hard to compare one situation with another.

I hope that you mange to make an appointment soon.

You are more then welcome to ring one of the nurses on the helpline to talk this through. Freephone 0808 800 4040,  9am-5pm Monday -Friday

    Best Wishes,

    Catherine
