Lump in calf

Hi. 
was looking up why this lump in my calf might be....on and off for months I've felt like I've had a strain in my calf/soleus but this weekend I noticed 3 new varicose veins and it was visibly larger than the other. I've tried to massage it out as if you would a knot but have noticed the skin around pulls up and dimples, I know this is a thing with breast lumps, is it the same with the leg it's quite painful at times when walking and is sore to the touch. Should I be worried? Am trying to get a docs apt

    I am afraid that no one here is able to say what could be the matter but you have done the right thing in getting a GP appointment.

    Lumps and bumps can occur for many reasons , and most will have nothing to do with cancer but getting it checked out will be the best thing to do and hopefully get some piece of mind.

    If you find that you have to wait a couple of weeks for a GP appointment this should be okay, so try not to worry.

    Thanks for the swift reply, 

    im being treated with blood thinners for DVT and have a scan in the morning. Hopefully it's nothing more sinister than that.
