Left side breast, chest, armpit and arm pain

I've been in pain for months, but my mammogram shows no cancer. I can't be sure, but there seems to be a large area of general swelling in my armpit, which I can feel when I raise my arm.  I don't think this area appears in mammograms, so it could be in my lymph gland.  I'm going back to my doctor because I want to find out why my left breast is larger and tense with a prominent nippled, unlike the right one.  If I just say "Oh well, I'm post menopausal and this is not unusual" I could find out it's any number of serious conditions which, if ignored, could spell serious consequences.  Phoning GP because I really cannot go on like this.

  • Hi and thanks for posting

It's reasonable to go to the GP and to discuss your worries about the breast with them. It's good that the mammogram did not show any serious concerns , but it sounds like a good idea for the GP to examine your armpit and say whether they can feel anything in that area.

I hope you manage to have a conversation with them soon

    All the best
