  • Hello and thanks for posting,

I am so sorry to hear about your situation.  I can understand that it must have been upsetting to be told that your doctor suspects cancer.

I do hope that you are able to find out more information today when they ring you.

We have some information about the different tests that they may do in order to help diagnose kidney cancer if that is what they suspect. Have a look here

It can be extremely frustrating and anxious making waiting for the tests to happen but it is important that the doctors get a complete picture when cancer is suspected.

Try if you can to take one step at a time if possible and try and distract yourself. I hope you have got a friend or member of your family who you are able to lean on whilst this is all going on.

If it is possible it may be helpful to take someone with you to listen to what the doctor has to say as it often better to have two people listening so you catch everything that they are saying. Check with the clinic first as due to covid it is not always possible to have an extra person in clinic.

Do ring us if you would like to talk through what the doctor has told you today.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Best Wishes,

    Catherine
