Waiting for skin biopsy results

I had a mole removed in June and have just received my letter to go in for my results. I suffer with severe health anxiety and just don't know what to think or expect - the letter asks for me to bring someone with me which makes me think the worst. I also tried to ring the number of the secretary and it turns out that it's the specialist cancer team I'm being put in touch with, so alarm bells are ringing. Is all of this normal? I don't know how I'm going to get through the next few weeks of worry!

  • Hello there and thanks for the post

This understandably is a naturally worrying situation to be in but i'm afraid no one on here can tell you what the results are or what will happen next. Unfortunately until you speak to the specialist themselves no one can tell you much more.

Whilst I appreciate this must be such an unsettling time for you keeping busy and your mind on other things can be helpful whilst waiting.

In the meantime you could try and see if you could talk things through with your GP and let them know how anxious you are about this and see if they can also suggest things to help.

You may well already be aware of Anxiety UK here and Mind here but they also have tips on things to help manage anxiety here.

I hope you know more soon and that everything will be okay for you.

Please get back if you need to.

    Take care

    Naomi
