My radiotherapy finished 5 months ago and I am still suffering from fatigue. In fact I think it's getting worse. Is there any research on how long this might lat?

Hi Jespha I haven't got any real answers ,but I finished my chemotherapy in Dec 14th 20020, and I finished my 15 session of Radiotherapy on 30th March 20021.
I'm feeling like you I have fatigue, I'm always feeling so tired.i don't sleep well at all at night, so I don't think that that's helping.
I've read a few things in a book I was sent from the hospital called moving forward, it tells you that after a cancer diognoses and treatments, for some it can take years to actualy feel like they used to before, but for others recovery can be a few weeks or months.
I realy do think it varies from person to person.
It states that excersise, like a walk a day may help, but although I go for a walk on a Tuesday with my daughter when she comes to see me,I don't walk a lot on my own,I did start too but my fatigue seems to have got worse, and I'm just to tired as I just can't sleep well . I'm on Letrazole untill 20029,and I'm suffering with pain in my feet, legs, right shoulder and right arm wrist and hand, and my right thumb gets stuck in mornings now and clicks. Has done for the past two weeks voltoral helps a bit , I have lymphedema in my right wrist, arm and I'm not sure if that or the letrazole is making my thumb get stuck and clicking in and out at the part where the thumb joint bends.
I have a telephone appointment with the open access nurses soon,so will discuss this with them .
Hopefully our fatigue will subside in time.
Do let me know how you are ,its good to talk to someone who knows how your feeling .you can add me as a friend ,if you want to talk privately by messaging on here.. But I'll understand if you dont .

Hello and thanks for your post
It’s very difficult to say how long fatigue will last in an individual person as people vary so much in this. But most people will see an improvement in their energy levels within 6 to 12 months after finishing treatment.
In the meantime, we have some information on our website about fatigue and tips on how to manage it such as doing a form of gentle exercise, getting enough rest and eating a healthy diet which you can read about by clicking here.
I hope this is of some use. Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
Kind regards,
Celene
