Armpit pain when pressed

Hi,

I have a pain in armpit that only hurts when pressed. When I press the other side it doesn't hurt. It's been this way for months and I can't feel any lumps, however I honestly can't tell if what I'm feeling is veins or lumps or what! I don't want to pester a doctor if there is no real reason to, however my partners mum recently had breast cancer and I'm a bit scared.

  • Hello and thanks for your post

I'm sorry your partner's mum has recently had breast cancer and that you are worried about some armpit pain.

I'm afraid we are unable to diagnose or tell anyone if anything is the matter. Armpit pain can have straightforward medical explanations, such as infection, or a blocked hair follicle. But only a doctor can make a medical assessment so the best thing to do is to make an appointment to see your GP to get checked out just to be on the safe side.

Because of the current pandemic, it’s more likely you will be offered a telephone o appointment initially with your doctor. After the consultation, if they feel they need to see you, they can offer you a face to face appointment.

I hope you know more about your situation soon.

    Kind regards,

    Celene

  • Hi lovely,

I had similar well I've got a lump in my breast I had armpit pain but I didn't feel a lump and the nurse did. I was given antibiotics last Friday, I returned today and the nurse feels the lump in my breast has gone down but is still there. However she can still feel the armpit lump and has given me a different course of antibiotics. It's always worth checking it out x
