I went for my ct colonoscopy today. Because of a leaky mitral valve I didn't have the buscopan and because I'd already had a fit test I didn't have the contrast.
Does this make a difference to what can be seen in the bowel and other organs ??

Hello Rhodes and thank you for your post
The contrast is used to highlight some areas of the body for example blood vessels. However they are not always needed and not everyone needs to have one. So don't worry about not having it. The radiologist that looks at your scan and provides the report should still be able to see anything that is suspicious of cancer if it is there.
I hope you get your result soon and that everything will be okay.
Take care,
Caroline
All the radiologist said was that she'd got good pictures... If I was all clear of cancer would she have told me there and then ??
I'm obv thinking all the worst case scenario's
Hi again
It would be very unlikely to be told results on the day, as they are usually properly looked at and reported on by the radiologist. The person who took the test isn't always the person who interprets them -
although they can say if they managed to get clear pictures and a good view, it wouldn't necessarily be the same person interpreting them.
People usually get their results 1-2 weeks later, so I wouldn't read anything into the fact that they didn't comment there and then.
I hope you get the results soon and don't have to wait too long, as it can be a very difficult time
All the best
Wanda
