I’m scared I’ve got Ovarian Cancer

Hey guys,

im petrified I've got ovarian cancer

at the beginning of the year I went to hospital with sharp pains in my stomach and it turns out I had an ovarian cyst reputure I had never had a cyst before and got really scared I had all sorts of tests done and all came back clear

it's been 7 months since those tests and since I have expierenced really bad heartburn and tiredness I am a single working mum so I just put the tiredness down to that but I'm only 23 and panicking.

my periods have got lighter as well and I get occasional lower back pain

My doctor has recently done a examination I've had 3 this year and all have been clear but I have asked for a Ca125 blood test too be done as I can't shake the feeling somethings wrong but it's not for another month and I'm freaking out

  • Hello

I am sorry to read about all the health problems you have been having.  It sounds like you have been going through a very difficult time.  You mention that you had a lot of tests done 7 months ago.  Although I don't know what these tests were, I imagine they would have been quite thorough and therefore it is likely that if you had cancer of the ovary at that time it would have been identified.

There can also be lots of causes for heart burn and tiredness and these are not obvious symptoms of cancer of the ovary.  But there must be some reason for these symptoms so it is important to talk to your doctor about them to be on the safe side.

It sounds like your doctor has been taking you seriously as they  have done 3 examinations this year including one recently so again it sounds like if you had a cancer they would identify it.  I also want to reassure you that cancer of the ovary in someone of your age would be quite unusual so there is probably another explanation for how you are feeling.

I hope this has been of some help

    Martin

  • I've had slight constipation and weight gain as well, I'm so nervous there is something malicious going on I don't understand why I would be getting such bad reflux other wise

  • Hello and thanks for your further post

I'm afraid I can't tell you why you are experiencing the symptoms you mention. As my colleague Martin said it's probably best to make an appointment to see your doctor to discuss your symptoms.

    Best wishes,

    Celene
