Hi Brian if you feel up to it, can you tell me how they managed to diagnose you with stomach cancer, what was the process, so far mines is going along the lines of this:

July 2020 stomach pain after eating anything / dry wretching

Can't go to toilet 

laxidos and omeprozole prescribed and then buscopan and told its stress

lost weight

Feb 2021

rugby shaped pointed ball sticking out of my stomach behind and above umbilical

referred for ultrasound, received it in April, found hernia 

I asked for a ct scan

i can barely eat anything, I can barely pass anything and I'm nausea all the time.

15 July 2021 got ct scan

9th August called me to say they found shadow on my liver and that hernia is 4by4 and referred for blood tests and emergency mri scan

13th August received full body one hour long mri scan and the radiographer said "it's been worthwhile you coming here today".

17th August I'm told it could be 12 days till I get my results.

is this what your path was like? What happened next in diagnosis 

Dear Grace, So sorry to hear about your problems, I do hope you get a definitive diagnosis soon, they seem to have been dragging their feet a bit. My only symptoms were like yours initially, I got stomach pains after eating. They put me on Lanzaprozol for 4 weeks with no effect. Then another month wasted testing for H.Pylori which was negative. I was eating less so gradually lost weight. My GP finally referred me in July 2020. I had a CT scan in August 2020 which found pulmonary embolisms which can indicate cancer. I had two gastroscopies the same month and the biopsies from those confirmed adenocarcinoma of the stomach. I then had a PET scan and a Laparoscopy which found the cancer had spread to my peritoneum making it inoperable. I was told I had a year to live with treatment. I had 6 cycles of EOX chemotherapy in the period October 20 to March 21. It wasn't nice but it's kept me going. I'm still here but who knows for how much longer. I'm 'under surveillance' awaiting a CT scan hopefully sometime soon. That's about it for me. Sorry it's such a long reply. I do hope you haven't got cancer. Please let me know how you get on. I don't think that there is a specific time frame as each case is treated on an individual basis.

You may find it helpful to contact your consultant's secretary to see if you can find out more information as to when your next scan and appointment are due. Your GP may also have more information as the hospital will have written explaining the frequency of your follow up's.

I can understand that it can be unsettling when you don't have any specific dates in the diary. I am sure that if you have new symptoms from your cancer that your consultant would want to hear about them.

I am sorry I can't be more specific and I do hope that you are able to easily find out.
