2nd dose of Pfizer causing armpit/breast lump?

I had my second dosee of Pfizer 3 weeks ago and last week I discoveered a lump in my breast/armpit area on the same siide that I received the jab. I called my GP and apparently there is lots of reports of lymph nodes enlarged in that area in the same side that the vaccine took place, stiil he has refered myself to the breast clinic and I have an appointment for next Thursday 19th of Agust which I am quite scare. I am in a complicated situation as on Tuesday the 17th I have my MRI to monitor the growth of a pelviic tumour that was biopsied back in May but they cannot be 100% sure of its nature so I am on the game wait for growth rate, which is quite uncertain. Anyone had any experience of breast lumps from the Pfizer jab?

  • Hi

I know someone that got an armpit lump the day after their 2nd pfizer jab.

Good to get checked though, hope everything turns out ok.

  • My hubby had a lump in armpit after 2nd dose, apparently it's a common side effect. Hope all goes ok x

  • Hi and thanks for posting

I can imagine it's hard coping with a lot of uncertainty at the moment for you, what with the upcoming MRI and a breast clinic appointment.

It's not unusual to have nodes come up after a vaccination and as you have read, people may also have them after a covid vaccine.

The majority of people who attend a breast clinic though will not have cancer, but they will be able to do some tests that will indicate what this lump/node may be. It's more waiting unfortunately for you though, as no one will be able to say what the lump is, here on the forum or on the internet.

Please do ring us if you would like to go over anything ,once you get a little more information after your tests - the number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    All the best

    Wanda

  • Thanks Wanda, very kind. I wasnt aware that my limph nodes. on arm pit could flare after the vaccine the whole breast seems a bit swollen and tender.

Yes, the MRI is already stressful but I am getting use to the waits and learned to be patiente.

I was just wondering if anyone had the same experience after the Pfizer vaccine, that was all and somehow get some moral support/sympathy  from someone that hhad a similar experience.

Sometimes I find that family and friends don't really want to talk about this subject, they just say that you will be ok which I find quite frustrating.

My MRI for my retroperitoneal rumour is tomorrow and I will get the results of that in 10 days, I had a previous MRI in March so I kept everything crossed it hasn't growth and it can be left for. anotherr 6 months.

The Breast clinic is on Thursday and I will see what comes out of that. I am not too bad a dealing with the waits.

    Thanks again for your support

  • Thanks for the support and for sharing

  • So I had my appointment at the Breast Clinic yesterday and had a mamogram and a ultrasound. Turns out is nothing to do with my lymph nodes swollen from the Pfizer but hormonal as the doctor said,  this is because I have extremely dense breast tissue and it can curl and lump together causing the lumps and pain. I thought I update the post in case my experience is useful for anyone.

Nedless to say, I feel extremely relieved and happy

  • Thank you for getting back to us,

It is good to know that your breast clinic appointment went well and that after having scans the breast specialist has told you that this has been caused by dense breast tissue and hormone levels.

I hope the MRI scan results you are waiting for will also be okay.

    Take care,

    Caroline
