Small lump in butt cheek

I have had small lumps here and there over the past few years and when I've contacted the gp they've told me that it'll go away as is it is benign (which most of them have) and that because I'm 19, I am "too young" to have cancer.

I have had a pea sized lump on my left butt cheek for over a year I would say, and it has not grown or shrunk in size, it doesn't hurt and it is firm to the touch. It is under the skin but you can feel it only if you deliberately touch it. I often forget about it. 
Me being an over thinker I'm really worried it is cancerous, especially as I have a history of cancer in both sides of the family, the most recent family member passing just over a year ago.

What should I do?

    I'm afraid we are unable to diagnose or tell anyone if anything is the matter. Lumps can have straightforward medical explanations, such as infection. Cancer would be very rare in someone of your young age. The majority of people affected by cancer are usually over 60.

    But only a doctor can make a medical assessment so the best thing to do is to go back and see your GP if you are still worried to get checked out just to be on the safe side.

    Because of the current pandemic, it’s more likely you will be offered a telephone appointment initially with your doctor. After the consultation, if they feel they need to see you, they can offer you a face to face appointment.

    Did you ever find out what this was? I have something that sounds similar in butt cheek and Im a bit worried.

    Hello there

    I am sorry you have a lump in your buttock that is worrying you.

    I'm afraid cancer chat cannot diagnose you or say what the matter may be.

    Lumps and bumps anywhere in the body are common and most will be harmless but if they are new and don't go away or get worse it is always best to get them checked out by a doctor just to be on the safe side.

    Arrange an appointment with your GP when you can and hopefully they can put your mind at ease.
