Really worried

Hi guys, I found this lump above my nipple and I'm worried. The best way I can describe it is it's actually looks like another nipple nearly the same size as my own it's really red the skin is dry on it and soft to touch but warm and the skin around it feels tight. only noticed it on the weekend because of pain but don't know how long it's been there I don't normally do checks. I'm only 25 so I'm thinking it prob not cancer but just concerned I'm working at the moment so can't ring the doctor till tomorrow would love some feedback

  • Hello Need-info and thanks for posting,

Breast cancer is much more common from the age of 50 onwards than it is at your age so not a very likely explanation for this lump. Tenderness, warmth and redness suggests some sort of infection, but I am sure you know the best thing to do is to get it properly assessed by your doctor both to be on the safe side and in case any treatment is needed.

    Best wishes,

    Julia

  • Hi

I sorry to hear that, I had a pea size lump, I went to gp dec 2020.

They sent me to breast clinic and they did mammogram,  scan and needke biopsy.

Didn't hear anything for 8 month.I had to return Tuesday and was informed that I have to have it removed because it looks suspicious , I go on 3rd Sept then wait 2 weeks to find out xx I hope ur ok xx thinking of you

    Xx

  • Hi and thanks for posting

Just to say that I hope things turn out well for you and if there is anything you would like to talk through after your surgery, do give us a ring - the number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

If you don't hear back about your results, do give the clinic a call to make sure that you get the feedback after your surgery. The GP always also gets sent results after scans, tests and appointments that have been done at the hospital, so you can also give them a call if you don't hear back.

    All the best

    Wanda

  • Hi Wanda

The thing is, I had all tests and needle biopsies in Dec 2020 they never informed my gp of outcome, they said they mislaid my paperwork  xx I am 57 and really worried its cancer

    Xxxxxxx

  • Hello and thank you for getting back to us.

I am sorry to hear that this has happened. Do get back in touch with the breast clinic, where you had these tests done to see what has happened.  Also ask them or your GP if you should be referred back to the Breast Clinic.

If after doing this you still feel you need to find out what happened then contact the Patient Advice Liaison Service (PALS) in the hospital where you were seen. They can see what has happened too.

I hope you find out more about your situation soon and that you will be okay.

    Take care,

    Caroline
