Pea sized lump on inner labia

Sorry, I know this is really gross. I’m 20 and have so much anxiety about everything, especially Health and I know it’s wrong but I am constantly on google/nhs/web md etc.

I have found a hard smaller than pea size lump on my vulva/ upper inner labia (above the clitorus) it is immovable but it not visible unless the skin is stretched and doesn’t hurt unless squeezed but I’m really worried it’s vulva cancer. It can’t be an STI as I’m not sexually active and it’s not an ingrown hair as there is no hair there.

I’m really worried

  • Hi, how did you get on? I hope all it ok!

I've got a lump too, I thought it was a boil or a cyst from hair or something.

My lump is hard, I went to the doctors today. He said it's not infected or anything, which cysts are normally painful if infected. He said I need to have it surgically removed.

I have been bleeding in between periods too. I'm a bit worried now. Because at the time I was expecting them to say they would drain it.

so I didn't ask the questions that I have now, because I think I was a bit in shock.

  • Hi! Yes I went and he transferred me straight away and I saw a gynocologist within 2 days! It turns out it's a lump of scar tissue from having my children. I've probably had it for years! I didn't have any bleeding but I am on the coil so I never do anyway! Hope you get sorted soon! There's nothing worse than worrying but try not to worry too much! Sending love x

  • Aww I'm glad to hear that you're ok!

Thankyou for your reply. I'm just worried because he said it wasn't infected. I'm trying to google if you can get non cancerous lumps or cysts that are not infected or got fluid. But can't find anything xx

  • Googling is the worst thing to do! Mine wasn't sore at all. Just a random lump. X

  • I'm in a very similar boat :(

Had a B cyst 6 months ago and left with a lump I think where the cyst last was. I've had bleeding between periods for 4 months. They've done a ultrasound on my stomach and nothings come up, but that was for the bleeding. Now they are assuming it's my implant so I have to get that out.

The lump is on my inside lips and very small.

the combination of the two symptoms has me panicking about vulvar cancer now :(

did you get any news from your appointment?

  • Hello and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear about your symptoms but when you have your implant removed then do ask the advice of your doctor then.

Even though it is reassuring hearing from other members of the forum everyone's case is so different so it is really difficult to compare one set of symptoms with another.

Vulval cancer is not common and it does sound like your cyst was removed and it may be that there is another cyst or it is a bit of scar tissue from where it was removed.

Try not to think the worst but do get it looked at if it is continuing to cause you concern.

    All the Best,

    Catherine

  • Hi,

Sorry I know this is an older post but.

I've found a small pea sized lump above my clitorus where the two labia meet. I'm worried it could be cancer and cannot really find many resources online. It doesn't appear to be a pimple or anything like that, it doesn't have a head.

    What should I do?

  • Hello and thanks for your post

I'm afraid we can't say what might be the matter (diagnose) but it’s possible you may have a Bartholin's cyst. This is a harmless non-cancerous cyst.  You can read more about Bartholin's cysts at this link

But only a doctor can make a medical assessment, so we always encourage people to make an appointment see their GP.. Doctors are trained to assess symptoms and can arrange tests if they feel it’s necessary to try to find out what might be going on.

I hope you know more about your situation soon and that everything turns out to be okay.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
