Question

  • Can anyone help ,my husband.is being treated for prostate cancer awaiting radiotherapy  he suffers from dreadful foul flatulence constant belching nothing seems to help, any help would be.much appreciated.
  • Hi there Anne and thanks for the post

I am sorry to hear about your husbands situation and the symptoms he is experiencing.

Unfortunately without being involved in his care and unable to assess him it is difficult to know what this is being caused by. Prostate cancer itself doesn't usually cause these symptoms.

If your husband hasn't already I would suggest he mentions to his own doctor so they can also advise.

You may find it helpful to look at the webpages about passing wind with some tips about eating smaller lighter meals slowly and avoiding trigger foods and fizzy drinks that may make things worse. Some people find drinking peppermint or fennel tea can also help. GUTS UK also have information about belching that also may be useful to look at.

As I say do talk this through with the doctor as well in case they wish to run some more tests to find out more what may be causing this.

Do get back in touch if needed or feel free to give us a call on 0808 800 4040, we're here weekdays 9-5.

    Best wishes

    Naomi
