Recall mammogram

I had a mammogram on Monday and have been recalled for a further mammogram next week. I have a frozen shoulder and it was a struggle to do the right breast. Could this be why I’ve been recalled. I have no lumps, pain or changes to my breasts. Very anxious and scared.

  • Hi Julie-there are all sorts of reasons you can be recalled following a mammogram- the majority of which are not cancer.  I was recalled in the summer &, like you, was very anxious & scared.  I, also, had no lumps, pain or changes.  I got my results on the same day following another mammogram & ultrasound.  No cancer- nothing of concern just a tiny pimple/spot on the outside of my right breast which was ‘the change’ from my mammogram 3 years earlier & the reason for recall.  It’s good that you have another appointment next week when, hopefully, your mind will be put at rest.  Let us know how you get on. Take care xx

  • Thank you. I’m trying not to worry, but it comes in waves. I will let you know xx

  • Hi there and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear you have been recalled for another mammogram and appreciate the worry this can cause.

Please try and take things one step at a time for now and try and not over think things for now.

Many women are recalled for a mammogram and there are many reasons for this to happen. As you say sometimes the images aren't very clear so need to be repeated. Sometimes a change is noted from a previous mammogram but again this doesn't automatically mean something sinister has been picked up.

It is however important for these things to be checked out, just to be on the safe side.

Try and keep yourself busy whilst you wait and occupy your thoughts with other things as best you can until your appointment.

I hope all goes well but do get back in touch if needed or give us a call on 0808 800 4040, weekdays 9-5 if you prefer.

    Take care

    Naomi
