Recurrence of head and neck cancer

I had an mri scan without contrast and the radiologists report said some concern re my lymph nodes under chin 

Aug

had mri scan with contrast and told by oncologist all clear - go enjoy yourself and have fun 

Sep 

oncologist rang to say 2 different opinions from radiologists so now need a pet/ct scan 

Oct 

Still waiting results 

Nov 

appt with oncologist 

Ongoing waiting is hell

    I'm sorry to read about all you’ve been through and can appreciate that waiting for scan results can prey on your mind. Many people find this period of uncertainty the hardest part, as it can feel as though everything is on hold and out of their control. It is therefore not surprising that you are feeling worried.

    Having a PET/CT scan does not mean a recurrence has been found, it just means as there were different opinions about the MRI findings, your oncologist wanted more information before reaching a conclusion.

    I know it’s easier said than done but try and take it one step at a time until you know more. Some people find talking it through with family and friends and keeping busy can sometimes help.
