MRI

Hi

Im waiting on an appointment for MRI following biopsy mammogram and ultrasound. I do not have the date yet but this may seem like a silly question, I have beaded and bond hair extensions in, will these need to be removed before hand? MRI will be on my breasts.

  • Hello and thanks for your enquiry,

You will need to contact the hospital MRI department and ask. Some NHS hospital units but not all, have a hand held magnet that can test extensions for metal.

Keratin bonded extensions are adhesive and no metal. But micro beaded extensions usually have metal in them. These could mean unclear distorted MRI images.

So, do seek advice from the hospital. You may need to have your metal based extensions removed and put back in after the scan by a stylist.

    I hope that this helps,

    Best wishes,
