Lletz loop-call from the hospital

hi all
Hope this is the correct place to post this, just wondering if anyone else has had the same and can put my mind at rest

I had my lletz loop procedure on the 18th September, i had it under general, i did bleed more than normal they said, so I have to go for an MRI scan, (not heard from them about having that yet).

And as far as I was aware I would get my results from the lletz in the post, the hospital called me a few days ago and want me to go in to discuss my results? they booked me in for this Friday, anyone else had to go in for the results? my mind is going everywhere at the moment, thank you.

Also just to add I’ve heard  ‘glandular neoplasia?’  Being mentioned before, but nothing has really been explained to me about that. So no idea if that’s something

  • Hello and thanks for posting

I'm sorry you are feeling worried and can appreciate waiting to find out more is very stressful.

There are 2 main types of abnormal cells that develop in the cervix that are both regarded as pre cancer cells, these are CIN Cervical intraepithelial neoplasia ( CIN) and Cervical glandular intraepithelial neoplasia (CGIN). Abnormal cells can be graded as low, moderate or severe and are treated according to the risk of them turning into cancer. CIN and CGIN are treated similarly, however, CGIN tends to be treated as standard practice when found as they are at higher risk of turning into cancer. This probably explains why they have rung you to come in so that they can talk things through with you and explain what needs to happen next.

The important thing to remember is that cervical screening is all about preventing cancer by picking up abnormality at an early stage where it can be monitored or treated. And even in the rare case when cancer is picked up through screening tests it is often at an early stage where it can be successfully treated.
