I am sorry to hear about your situation. I appreciate how important it is for you to see your grandson on his birthday but at the same time it is important to protect yourself as well.

It is usually best to avoid being in the same room as someone with chicken pox or any other infectious illness whilst having chemo, when your immune system is low.

I understand how disappointing this may be for both you and your grandson but perhaps you can do a video call on Tuesday and arrange a little celebration at a later date when he is no longer infectious.
