I am sorry to here about what's happening with mum. Its is difficult to answer your questions in too much detail as side affects are quite individual and also each type of chemotherapy is slightly different for different cancers. Side affects can range from fatigue or nausea, to diarrhoea or hair loss. Hair thinning and loss can happen after the first treatment for some people, we have more about it on this page.

The main thing mum will need is a listening ear for when she wants to chat, whether that's about the cancer and its treatment, or just listening to your general everyday news.

We do have this information for family caregivers but also posting on the 'caring for someone with cancer' thread will means you will hear from others in a similar situation to you. This can feel a support and may give you an idea of the sort of things they did for their loved ones.
