When you are first diagnosed with asymptomatic multiple myeloma (also called smouldering myeloma), doctors monitor you closely—usually every 3 to 4 months—to establish how quickly or slowly your protein levels are changing. However, clinical guidelines (such as the UK's National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, or NICE Guidelines) note that if a patient's numbers remain stable for five years or more, the frequency of monitoring can safely be reduced.

NICE guidance states: Monitor smouldering myeloma every 3 months for the first 5 years, and then decide the frequency of further monitoring based on the long term stability of the disease.

Because you have maintained stable bloods since February 2020, your healthcare team has likely determined it is safe to space your tests out to every 6 months.
