Ovarian/Endometrial cancer

My doctor sent me for a transvaginal scan due to bleeding. I didn't know i should be taking prosterone tablet's alongside the HRT.  They said my womb lining is very thick and I have a cyst. So I am now waiting on an urgent cancer appointment for a biopsy. I cant sleep , I just called the cancer unit and I was told I should hear, by next weds. It just seems so far away . I am making myself feel ill

  • Hi there Netty71 and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear you are currently undergoing tests for a thickened womb lining and a cyst following some bleeding. This is understandably a worrying time for you but try and take things one step at a time for now and don't let your mind run away with itself too much.

The important thing is you got this checked out and the tests needed to find out more are being carried out. Unfortunately no one can tell you any more at the moment until they have taken some biopsies at the hysteroscopy and the results are in from the lab.

When there is too much oestrogen and not enough progesterone in the body this often will cause the womb lining to become thicker which then can cause some bleeding. Most of the time this is endometrial hyperplasia. Therefore the majority of women undergoing tests won't go on to get a cancer diagnosis but this does need to be ruled out, just to be on the safe side.

For now try and put your thoughts somewhere else and keep yourself busy with other things. Fill your days with work or other activities and meeting up with friends and family to help pass the time.

Do look after yourself by getting some regular exercise and fresh air and eating a balanced healthy diet. Try to relax and get some good sleep if you can, as this will help as well.

Take care of yourself but do get back in touch if you need to or if you prefer give us a call on 0808 800 4040, we're here weekdays 9-5.

    Best wishes,

    Naomi
