I am sorry to learn that your uncle has pancreatic cancer. This must be an incredibly difficult time for you and all your family.

This is a difficult situation, and, understandably, you want to explore every possible treatment option for your uncle.

Daraxonrasib is a new targeted cancer drug that works by blocking RAS proteins, which play an important role in helping many cancers grow. It has shown encouraging results in clinical trials for people with advanced pancreatic cancer, particularly when the cancer has continued to grow after previous treatment.

At the moment, however, daraxonrasib is not a standard treatment for pancreatic cancer in the UK. Although it has recently been approved in the United States for some people with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, it still needs to be reviewed by the MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency) before it can be licensed in the UK. If it is approved, NICE (National Institute of Health and Care) would then assess whether it should be funded by the NHS.

For someone who has just been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, access to daraxonrasib in the UK is currently very limited. The most likely routes would be through a clinical trial, if there is a suitable trial and your uncle meets the eligibility criteria, or through an early access scheme if this is available and if his cancer specialist feels he may be suitable.

From the information I have been able to find, there is currently a UK trial of daraxonrasib for people whose pancreatic cancer has been removed with surgery. However, I have not been able to find a UK trial that is currently recruiting people with newly diagnosed stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

The best next step is for your uncle to discuss this with his oncologist. They are best placed to advise whether there are any clinical trials, early access programmes, or targeted treatments that might be appropriate for him, including those involving daraxonrasib or other drugs that target the RAS/KRAS pathway. Even if daraxonrasib itself is not available, there may be other clinical trials that could be relevant to his situation.

I appreciate that this may not be the straightforward answer you were hoping for. Unfortunately, we cannot say what the best way is to access daraxonrasib in the UK at present. However, your uncle's oncology team will have the most up-to-date information about treatment options, clinical trials, and any special access schemes that may be available.
