Hi Juliebug and thank you for your post.
I am sorry to learn that you have symptoms that required an ultrasound.
An ultrasound can sometimes show changes in a lymph node that need a closer look.
A report mentioning a loss of the fatty hilum (the centre part of the lymph node) does not automatically mean cancer.
There can be a number of reasons for this finding.
The next steps will be to discuss the results with the doctor who requested the ultrasound.
They will be able to explain what the finding means for you and whether any further tests are needed, such as another scan, blood tests, or a biopsy.
If you have not yet received an appointment to discuss the ultrasound results, I would suggest contacting your GP or hospital team for more information.
Please get back to us if you need any more information or support
It might help to talk things through with one of our nurses on the helpline. You can call for free on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
I hope you know more soon and everything is ok.
Kind regards
Tina
Thanks
I had an ultrasound November 2025 when they said about the lymph node with loss of hilar extension then in May 2026 I had a second ultrasound the person doing it said it was settled but still there. I have horrible symptoms which I won't go into but nothing has been sent to me or my GP and nothing on the NHS app..
