My daughter woke one morning with a really enlarged lymph node . Went to gp and they agreed it was strangely big as no signs of any infection or illness. Agreed to watch and wait for 48 hours. She still remained well and it remained the same size. Went back to GP and saw another doctor who wasn’t very helpful. So I booked a private ultrasound and these are the results below..
The swelling at the area of interest around level II and III of the right side of
the neck corresponds with a cluster of at least 3 enlarged hypoechoic lymphnodes with absent fat hilum, the largest measures 14 mm in short axis. Urgent paediatric review advised.
went back to gp with results. She agreed referral was needed so that was the plan. Later that afternoon she rang me to say instead of referring she rang the paediatric Oncall to get them to see my daughter same day. Apparently they didn’t really want to see her just wanted to give her antibiotics. My dr argued back with what the results said since hospital hadn’t seen them yet and told us to go up.
so we went up and they did bloods and gave her a weeks worth of antibiotics and said bloods was ok and if the antibiotics don’t work they’ll see her in a week. From what I’ve researched lymphoma and other types of cancer aren’t picked up on bloods.
i took her to the dentist for a routine check up and he looked at the lymph nodes and he said it’s ridiculous her being on antibiotics when no signs of infection and said she needs to be referred to a specialist children’s hospital. (Not saying the name just in case)
I’ve rang my gp to let them know and I feel like I’m going round and round in circles.
sorry for the long post just wanted you to have the full picture.
