Ovarian mass

Hi

Should I be concerned that after my ca125 bloods and mri was done my case has now gone to multidisciplinary team. Urgent referral for gynecological cancer im 38 years old. Also dont know results of ca125 or mri the hospital haven't sent them to my gp.

Multidisciplinary team meeting is either tomorrow or Wednesday.

Thank you

  • Hi there BinkyBoo2017 and thanks for the post

I am sorry to hear you are undergoing tests and now waiting to hear the results and what needs to happen next.

Try not to let your mind run away with itself for now until you have spoken with the doctor and find out the facts.

There are lots of different things that can cause a raised ca125 and abnormalities in the female pelvis. Ovarian cysts, fibroids, endometriosis and so on. In most cases the cause is something less serious than cancer but if something is suspicious they will want to get things investigated as quickly as possible.

A multi disciplinary team meeting is when a group of specialist doctors come together to discuss patients results and come up with a plan moving forward, it doesn't automatically mean cancer has been detected but sometimes more tests will need to be carried out.

Sit tight for now and hopefully you will hear something very soon.

Do get back in touch if needed or if you prefer give us a call on 0808 800 4040, we're here weekdays 9-5.

    Best wishes

    Naomi

  • Thank you for your reply its the unknown that's driving me insane i don't know when the mdt are meeting i have no answers to my ca125 bloods or mri findings its been nearly 3 weeks from ca125 and nearly 2 weeks since I had my mri i know in on the 2ww referral and im well within the dates but I simply cannot help but worry especially with all my symptoms which were dismissed by the gp and the family history of ovarian and breast cancer
